What kind of watch this is
Veep is a 2012 comedy that dissects the machinery of American politics through the lens of a vice president who hates her job. Created by Armando Iannucci, it stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer, a former senator who discovers the role is precisely what everyone warned it would be. The series runs 30 hours over 7 seasons, a commitment measured in utterances of frustration rather than joy. It is a relentless, 28-minute-at-a-time study of incompetence. You will not learn how to win elections. You will learn why they keep losing.
How it did with audiences
Veep traded box office for box office points. Without a budget to recoup or a ticket price to offset, the show measured success in viewer retention and critical consensus. On TMDB, users rate it 7.5 out of 10. That number suggests the audience forgave the bureaucracy. They stayed for the chaos.
