Maeil Business Newspaper found the explicit scenes poorly integrated, while JoyNews24 criticized the slow pace and casting. The split was so stark that Ji Chang-wook admitted he expected the series would not win everyone over. Son Ye-jin agreed, noting the restrained storytelling might not suit all tastes. Director Jung Ji-woo also acknowledged the polarized response. It is a rare case where the cast and crew are on the same page, mostly about how divided the audience is.
