What kind of watch this is
The Princess and the Frog runs 98 minutes and tells a story where the kiss does not fix the problem. It makes it worse. Tiana wants a restaurant, not a prince, and the magic of the story respects that ambition. The tone is warm but grounded, swapping glass slippers for work boots. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 86% approval rating based on 200 reviews as of January 2026. Metacritic assigns a 73 Metascore from 29 critics, signaling generally favorable reviews. The consensus calls it a lively confection, a phrase that does a lot of heavy lifting for a holiday release. Lisa Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly gave it an "A" grade, applauding the team for upholding the great tradition of classic Disney animation. Kirk Honeycutt of The Hollywood Reporter praised the return to hand-drawn animation and "a thing called story." Not everyone bought the nostalgia trip. Justin Chang of Variety argued the throwback never comes within kissing distance of the studio's former glory.

The Princess and the Frog cost $105 million to make and took in $267 million worldwide. In the United States, it pulled $104 million. It landed as the fifth-highest-grossing animated film of 2009, a ranking that was deemed an underachievement by Disney's standards. On TMDB, users rate it 7.2 out of 10.
What came next for the cast
Anika Noni Rose had just finished Dreamgirls. What followed was a pivot toward live-action roles like Maid and Power. Michael-Leon Wooley, also in Dreamgirls, moved on to Premium Rush. The credits do not link the frog to their next steps. They just list what happened after the swamp.
