What kind of watch this is
The hook is simple: 8 strangers, scattered across the globe, suddenly share one consciousness. It is a sci-fi drama built on the premise that a single moment can fracture a person into eight simultaneous lives. You are not just watching one story; you are inhabiting eight, often at once. The tone swings between intimate drama and high-concept thriller, anchored by the Wachowskis and Straczynski. It runs 22 hours over 2 seasons, a commitment that demands you let go of the idea that a character has only one perspective. It is a dense, sensory experience that refuses to let you look away from the others.
What the critics said
Critics found the first season generally favorable, though not without friction. Rotten Tomatoes reported a 71% approval rating based on 62 reviews, with an average score of 6.25/10. The consensus noted that while some scenarios bordered on illogical, the diverse characters kept the story compelling. Metacritic assigned a weighted score of 64 out of 100, also indicating generally favorable reviews. The reception improved for the second season. Rotten Tomatoes assigned a 93% approval rating to the 10 episodes that followed the Christmas special, with an average of 7.57/10. Metacritic scored that run 73 out of 100. Critics praised the visuals and heart, even if individual character development lagged behind the spectacle.
