What kind of watch this is
David E. Kelley’s 2023 series adapts the true story of a suburban Texas double murder. It runs 6 hours across 7 episodes, a length that mirrors the slow, suffocating tension of a life that looks perfect on the surface but is rotting underneath. The tone is dry, almost bureaucratic, as it documents how two churchgoing couples unravel when an affair spills over into violence. It is a study in domestic decay, where the banality of evil is the real horror. It suits anyone who wants to watch a marriage disintegrate in real time, without the comfort of a clear villain.
How it did with audiences
The box office figures are absent from the record. Without a budget to anchor the numbers, we cannot calculate the profit margin or the studio’s internal sigh of relief. Instead, the verdict rests on the viewers themselves. On TMDB, users rate the series 7.8 out of 10. That is a solid score. It lands where the intent was.
What came next for the cast
Elizabeth Olsen arrived from the peak of the Avengers, a franchise that consumes entire careers. She has since pivoted to independent films like His Three Daughters and The Assessment. Jesse Plemons traded the gravity of Breaking Bad and The Irishman for a steady stream of varied roles, including Kinds of Kindness and Bugonia. Lily Rabe stepped off the American Horror Story train to appear in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. The timeline does not prove Love & Death redirected these paths. It merely marks the point where their credits diverged.
