Good Omens (2019)
Something's going down in the up.
Aziraphale and Crowley, of Heaven and Hell respectively, have grown rather fond of the Earth. So it's terrible news that it's about to end. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing. The Four Horsemen are ready to ride. Everything is going according to the Divine Plan...except that someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist. Can our heroes find him and stop Armageddon before it's too late?

What kind of watch this is
Neil Gaiman’s 2019 adaptation leans hard into the comedy of celestial bureaucracy. It treats the apocalypse as an administrative error rather than a cosmic event. David Tennant and Michael Sheen play the demon and angel who prefer a quiet life over their respective duties. The series runs 12 hours across 3 seasons, a manageable dose of apocalyptic chaos. The tagline promises something’s going down in the up, and it delivers exactly that.
What the critics said
Critics warmed to the first two series, then cooled. Rotten Tomatoes places the first at 85% approval, averaging 7.3 out of 10 across 98 reviews. The consensus notes the Sheen and Tennant chemistry, while noting the six-episode run might have used more freedom from the source. Metacritic scores it 66 out of 100. The second series improves slightly, hitting 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and 68 on Metacritic, with critics calling it even more splendid. The final series drops to 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and 61 on Metacritic. Reviewers called the ending heartfelt but serviceable. The trajectory is a gentle slide, which is at least honest.
How it did with audiences
Good Omens did not generate a box office figure, so the financial ledger remains blank. Instead, the measure is the audience. On TMDB, users give it an 8 out of 10. That is a strong number. It suggests the crowd liked the chaos.
