Fury is born.
As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. The consensus notes the film adds emotional weight to the franchise, even if it lacks the raw throttle of its predecessor. Robert Daniels called it one of the best prequels ever made. Owen Gleiberman disagreed, seeing franchise overkill.

It cost $168 million and took in $174.4 million worldwide. In film accounting, that is a very good year. In studio accounting, it is a hole in the ground. Variety reported insiders estimated the film needed $350–375 million to break even. Deadline Hollywood later calculated a $119.6 million loss. The government covered half the budget. On TMDB, users rate it 7.4 out of 10. The balance sheet did not.
