What the critics said

Rotten Tomatoes sits at 59%, which is polite for a movie where cars jump across skyscrapers. Metacritic is less generous, landing on 58 out of 100, a score that suggests the spectacle outpaced the script. The average rating is 5.7/10, a number that feels honest for a film that treats physics as a suggestion. The consensus notes Justin Lin’s knack for preposterous set pieces keeps the action humming. Alonso Duralde of TheWrap agreed, noting that despite the loss of logic, the jolts of pleasure keep coming. Matt Patches of Polygon saw less charm, arguing that Dom has become a functional superhero while the meta-commentary grates. It is a fun ride, provided you ignore the odometer.
