Metacritic is less generous, landing on 54 out of 100, which it files under mixed or average. Alison Foreman of IndieWire noted that Vaniček reinvents how an Evil Dead movie can feel. Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com, however, gave it 2 out of 4 stars, arguing it is for completists only. The rest of us are just along for the ride.
How it did with audiences
Evil Dead Burn took in $32.2 million in the United States and Canada. It added $40 million from other territories, bringing the worldwide total to $72.3 million. The film opened to $13.7 million, finishing fourth at the box office. That followed $2.3 million from Thursday night previews. By its second weekend, the number had dropped 64% to $5 million. On TMDB, users rate it 7.7 out of 10.
