Sophie Gilbert of The Atlantic found it a puzzle-box show more preoccupied with its own cleverness than with the burden of watchability. That is a specific kind of headache, but at least the diagnosis is clear.

TMDB users rate it 7.3 out of 10. It drew strong early interest, ranking as the second most anticipated new series in March 2020. Whip Media’s TV Time data later named it a rising show based on weekly viewing growth. By January 2021, reports placed it among FX on Hulu’s most-watched titles, with A Teacher ahead of it.

Sonoya Mizuno moved from La La Land and Beauty and the Beast to House of the Dragon and Civil War. Nick Offerman shifted from 21 Jump Street to Mission: Impossible and Voicemails for Isabelle. Cailee Spaeny jumped from Pacific Rim: Uprising to Alien: Romulus and Wake Up Dead Man. The credits do not claim Devs caused this shift. They simply record what followed.
