It is a spectacle. It works best if you are in the mood for a long, earnest superhero romp.

Critics landed in the middle, mostly. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 57% as of January 2026, with an average score of 6.1 out of 10. Metacritic, using a weighted average, gave it 60 out of 100 from 57 critics, which it files under mixed or average. The Washington Post noted the reaction shifted from early praise to precipitous decline. Variety praised the escapist qualities, though many found it overindulgent. Kate Erbland of IndieWire called the swings "joyous," while Jake Coyle of the Associated Press saw ambitions just outside its grasp. It is a film that tries hard enough to keep you guessing, even when the guesses are obvious.
How it did with audiences
Wonder Woman 1984 cost $200 million and took in $170 million worldwide. That is a deficit the studio will remember for a long time. In North America, it made $47 million. The TMDB user score sits at 6.3 out of 10. Audiences voted with their feet, or rather, their wallets. The math is brutal, but the numbers are honest.
