A motor-mouthed outsider with no memory of his past is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

Rotten Tomatoes sits at 67% for the first season, based on 49 reviews. Metacritic gives it 55 out of 100, a score that signals mixed reception. The consensus calls it an enjoyable blast of cartoonish violence, though one critic noted it struggles to flesh out its source material. Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter found the series fast and fun, noting it won’t be in the running for Emmys. Alison Herman of Variety disagreed, calling the story thin and packed with tropes.
Season 2 fared better. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 92% approval rating from 25 critics. Metacritic scores it 74 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reviews. The critics’ consensus says the season gains momentum and raises the stakes. It seems the cart is finally moving in the right direction, or at least with more fuel.
How it did with audiences
On TMDB, users rate it 7.7 out of 10. Two weeks in, the series became Peacock's most-binged comedy premiere. Nielsen data puts it at 400 million viewing minutes in the weekend following its launch. That is a lot of people staring at screens. It seems the algorithm and the audience finally agreed on something.
