What kind of watch this is
The Whisper Man is a 2026 crime thriller that runs 111 minutes. It pairs a widower with his estranged father, a retired detective who previously caught the serial killer now suspected in the boy's disappearance. James Ashcroft directs a film that leans on the tension between a son’s guilt and a father’s expertise. Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, and Adam Scott carry the weight of a mystery that whispers rather than shouts.
What the critics said
The reception is lukewarm, which fits a film about whispers. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 45% from 82 critics, averaging 5/10. The consensus notes the cast goes through the motions, finding the movie reasonably creepy but lacking in fresh ideas or genuine tension. Metacritic lands on 52 out of 100, based on 19 critics, labeling the reviews as mixed or average.
How it did with audiences
The Whisper Man spent $50 million to make a film that audiences rate 6.8 out of 10 on TMDB. That is a solid mid-range score, suggesting the movie did its job without asking for applause. It is the kind of number that keeps a studio’s lights on without setting them on fire.
