Brandon Zachary of CBR agreed on the madcap energy, comparing it to Pee-wee's Playhouse rather than SpongeBob. He also praised Jill Talley’s voice work as Squidina, noting her "earnest attitude" smoothed over the unstructured mess. The show is a kinetic mess, which is exactly the point.
