What kind of watch this is
Director Giselle Bonilla crafts an 84-minute comedy where a theater teacher weaponizes his middle schoolers to humiliate the man stealing his ex. The hook is pure petty spite, played for laughs rather than angst. Rob Lowe anchors the role of the smug principal, while Will Brill carries the chaotic energy of a man who has lost everything except his access badge. It is a film that understands the specific, petty cruelty of adult grievances filtered through adolescent enthusiasm. The tagline—"It's not personal. It's middle school."—sets the tone perfectly. Expect a movie that treats the school stage as a battlefield.
How it did with audiences
The box office numbers are a mystery, but the audience sentiment is not. On TMDB, users rate it 6.7 out of 10. That is a score that suggests people watched it, then quietly decided it was fine. It is the cinematic equivalent of a polite nod. Not a rave, but certainly not a riot.
