It opened to $34.6 million, topping the box office for the Labor Day weekend. That made it the second-best Labor Day weekend ever, trailing only Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It held the top spot for one weekend before falling 65% to $12 million. TMDB users rate it 7.3 out of 10.

Before The Equalizer 3, Denzel Washington had The Book of Eli and The Equalizer (2014). Since then, he stepped into Gladiator II and Highest 2 Lowest. The credits list these projects.
