The reception is messy. Jenna Ryu of USA Today calls the reviews "mixed," and Christi Carras of the Los Angeles Times finds them "all over the place." Even the praise is bifurcated. Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian calls it "madly preposterous" and "amazing cinema.
How it did with audiences
Tenet spent $200 million to make and took in $361 million worldwide. In the film business, that is a respectable Tuesday. TMDB users rate it 7.2 out of 10. The math is simple enough if you ignore the marketing budget.
What came next for the cast
Robert Pattinson moved from the twilight of teen romance to the darkness of Gotham, a trajectory that suggests the universe finally let him age. John David Washington, already a name in the room, kept stacking leads without a pause for breath. Elizabeth Debicki returned to the Guardians franchise, proving that even a time-bender needs a steady job. Kenneth Branagh, meanwhile, kept directing other people’s blockbusters. The credits do not prove Tenet caused these shifts. They simply mark the point where the road changed direction.
