What kind of watch this is
Taskmaster is a 2015 comedy where Greg Davies, the titular Taskmaster, hands five competitive comedians instructions that are technically doable but logically unhinged. Alex Horne stands by his side, offering the only sane commentary in the room. The format is simple: complete the task, argue about the score. It runs 46 minutes an episode. With 22 seasons and 202 episodes, the total watch time is 155 hours. That is a lot of time to spend watching people fail at making sense of nonsense.
What the critics said
The critics warmed to the chaos. Andrew Billen of The Times gave the first episode five stars, calling it "funny, revealing, and glorious." He noted it reminded him of The Generation Game, a comparison that does a lot of heavy lifting. Filipa Jodelka of The Guardian spotted an "edgy parlour-game twist" beneath the surface, praising the "molten-hot banter." Wesley Mead of Den of Geek later crowned the show the "crowning jewel" of Dave’s original programming. He liked the tasks, though he noted the first three series featured only one female contestant each. A fair point, given the household.
How it did with audiences
Taskmaster has no box office figures to lean on, so the judgment rests on the people who watched it. On TMDB, users rate it 8.3 out of 10. That is a high score for a comedy that deliberately withholds answers.
