What kind of watch this is
Task is a 2025 crime drama that swaps the usual roles. An FBI agent in the Philadelphia suburbs leads a task force to stop a string of violent robberies. The person pulling the strings is a family man who seems completely harmless. Brad Ingelsby created the show, and Mark Ruffalo plays the agent hunting him. Tom Pelphrey and Emilia Jones round out the family at the center of the investigation. Each episode runs about 62 minutes, and the two seasons total roughly 7 hours of viewing. It asks how much pressure it takes to break a quiet life. The tagline is "Every force has its equal," which does a lot of work for a show about suburban normalcy cracking under weight.
What the critics said
Critics largely agreed that Task hits hard. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 96% approval rating, averaging 7.95 out of 10 across 83 reviews. Their consensus calls Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey "superb," noting the film is "unrelentingly bleak but equally riveting." Metacritic scores it 77 out of 100, labeling the reception generally favorable. It is a heavy watch, but a sharp one.
How it did with audiences
No box office figures exist in the record. The money story remains blank. What we have is the TMDB user score: 7 out of 10. It is a solid number. It is not a raving endorsement, but it is not a disaster either. The receipts are missing, so the rating stands alone. A quiet approval, at least.
