However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and career.

$60 million in, $241 million out. That is a healthy margin, assuming you like planes that do not crash. Audiences rated it 7.2 on TMDB, a score that suggests most people enjoyed the safety of the cabin. It also set a September record for the biggest global IMAX opening for a 2D film, pulling in $5.1 million from 523 screens. The previous holder was The Maze Runner. Safety, it turns out, is a compelling genre.
