By the finale, the approval hit 100% and Metacritic reached 82, a jump that suggests patience was rewarded. The final season’s consensus notes its "devotion to gothic absurdity pays off handsomely." Stephen King called it "spooky as hell," while Guillermo del Toro praised the surgical staging. The climb from decent to acclaimed is a nice arc for a series about a house that refuses to be normal.
