Quantum of Solace (2008)

What the critics said

Rotten Tomatoes sits at 63%, a figure that feels less like a verdict and more like a shrug. The average user rating on the same site is 6.1/10, which is barely above "meh." Metacritic, being the polite one, lands on 58 out of 100, categorizing the reception as mixed. Critics generally agreed that Daniel Craig’s Bond was magnetic, even if the film itself felt like a blur. Roger Moore, who played the role decades earlier, called the editing "too much flash cutting," a diagnosis that stuck. Kim Newman of Empire gave it 4/5, noting the film wisely didn’t try to outshine Casino Royale. The consensus is that it’s a fun, if slightly confused, action movie.
