Dan Trachtenberg directs this 2025 sci-fi action film, which runs 107 minutes. The premise involves a young Predator, cast out from his clan, teaming up with a damaged android to find the ultimate adversary. It is a story about two outcasts bonding in a hostile environment. The dynamic is dry, physical, and surprisingly tender. You get a hunter who is no longer welcome in his own home, and a machine that is falling apart. It is a tight, kinetic adventure.
What the critics said
Critics warmed to the shift in perspective, though not uniformly. Rotten Tomatoes reports 86% positive reviews from 277 critics, while Metacritic settles on a 71 Metascore from 43 critics, a tier Metacritic labels "generally favorable." Both scores are as of January 2026. Tim Robey of The Telegraph praised the ability to "humanise a film in which not a single human features." Not everyone bought the charm. Abhimanyu Mathur of the Hindustan Times called the spin-off "bland" and "nobody asked for," giving it 2 stars. The audience grade, an A− from CinemaScore, suggests the fans are happier than the skeptics.
How it did with audiences
The budget was $105 million. The worldwide gross came in at $184.6 million. In the domestic market, it opened to $40 million, overtaking the previous franchise record held by Alien vs. Predator. That debut also included a strong start from international markets, which added another $40 million to the total. On TMDB, users give it a 7.8.
