Peter Keough of The Boston Globe disagreed, finding it "just another mediocre thrill ride.

The production budget stood at $110 million. The worldwide gross reached $303 million. In the United States and Canada, it collected $100 million, while other territories added $203 million. It was the second-highest grossing original live-action Hollywood release of 2016, trailing only La La Land. TMDB users rate it 7 out of 10. The studio initially projected a $35 million debut, but the film cleared $30 million in its first six days. It finished third that weekend, behind Rogue One and Sing.
