What kind of watch this is

What the critics said
Rotten Tomatoes holds the film at an 83% approval rating as of February 2025, while Metacritic settles on a 74 out of 100 Metascore in June 2025. People called it "pure fun from start to finish." Newsweek noted it "bounces along with finger-snapping high spirits," though it admitted Soderbergh has made deeper films. Not everyone bought the charm. Richard Corliss of Time argued the movie "doesn't offer much." The audience vote was kinder, with CinemaScore giving it a B+.
How it did with audiences
The budget was $85 million. The worldwide gross hit $451 million. In the United States, it pulled in $183 million. Those numbers suggest audiences found the heist convincing, even if the math was loose. It opened to an estimated $38.1 million, briefly holding the record for the highest December opening before The Lord of the Rings arrived. For a while, it was George Clooney's biggest ticket. TMDB users rate it 7.5 out of 10. A solid score for a movie that mostly promises fun.
What came next for the cast
Before 2001, Clooney had Batman & Robin on his resume. After, he was making Gravity. Pitt went from Se7en to World War Z. Garcia, who did The Untouchables, ended up in Passengers. Damon, fresh off Good Will Hunting, eventually starred in The Martian. The credits do not prove the heist changed their trajectories. They just list what followed.
