Rotten Tomatoes gives the first season a 97% approval rating, based on 61 reviews. The second season holds 94%, the third 92%, and the fourth 96%. Metacritic assigns an 81 out of 100, a score it categorizes as universal acclaim. Rohan Naahar of The Hindustan Times called it "something like Fresh Off the Boat, but it does a much better job at balancing the comedy and the drama." He also noted that Devi’s "repulsive [behavior] makes her a real person." One critic disagreed. Pallabi Dey Purkayastha of The Times of India found it "overboard with stereotyping," though she still gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
