What kind of watch this is
Ang Lee directs. That is the single most important fact. He takes a story about a boy and a tiger at sea and makes it look like a religious experience. The film runs 127 minutes, a duration that demands your attention rather than asking for it. It is a visual puzzle that relies on you choosing which version of the truth to believe. The hook is not the survival, but the ambiguity of the ending. It is a risk that pays off in the final frame. The dry humor is absent; the awe is not.
