What kind of watch this is
Lie to Me is a 2009 crime drama that treats human expression as a data set. Created by Sam Baum, it runs 35 hours across 3 seasons and 48 episodes. Tim Roth plays Cal Lightman, a researcher who reads micro-expressions to spot lies. The hook is simple: he can see when you’re faking it. The problem is he’s very good at faking it back. It’s a tight, procedural watch that never looks away from the face in front of you.
How it did with audiences
The numbers tell a story of steady erosion. The pilot drew 12.37 million viewers in the U.S., peaking at 12.99 million for "A Perfect Score." By the first season finale, that audience had shrunk to 8.46 million. Season two opened with 7.73 million and closed at 4.94 million. Season three started at 5.87 million before Fox announced the cancellation on May 10, 2011. On TMDB, users rate it 7.9 out of 10. People watched the face-reading act, then quietly changed the channel.
