Peter Howell of The Toronto Star gave it two and a half stars, noting a lack of story that frequently amused, if not entirely delighted.

It opened to $60.2 million, performing much better than analysts had been expecting. On TMDB, users rate it 7.3 out of 10. The numbers say it was a hit. The panda says nothing, because he is eating noodles.
