Produced for $16 million, Jennifer’s Body opened to $2.8 million on its first Friday. By the weekend, it had climbed to $6.8 million, landing at number 5 behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It eventually pulled in $31.5 million worldwide. Analyst Jeff Bock blamed the horror-comedy blend for the modest return, noting audiences struggle with the mix. The demographics were a hit, however: 51% of viewers were female, and 70% were under 25.
What came next for the cast
Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried were already recognizable faces before 2009, having appeared in Transformers and Mean Girls respectively. What followed for Fox included the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films and This Is 40. Seyfried moved into In Time, Ted 2, and Les Misérables. Johnny Simmons shifted from Evan Almighty to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and 21 Jump Street. Adam Brody went from The Ring to Scream 4 and Shazam!. The credits show a pivot, but not a cause.
