What kind of watch this is
HIS & HERS is a 2026 crime drama built on a specific friction: two estranged spouses, one a detective and the other a reporter, hunting the same killer while treating each other as the prime suspect. The hook is that neither side can fully trust the other’s evidence, turning every clue into a point of contention. It runs 5 hours across 6 episodes, a tight commitment that allows the tension to stay high without dragging. The show thrives on the gap between what each character knows and what they are willing to admit. It is a slow burn that relies on the weight of a shared history rather than plot twists for its momentum.
What the critics said
Rotten Tomatoes shows 68% positive reviews from 50 critics. The consensus calls it a moody mystery where the questions outweigh the answers, with Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson providing the main draw. Metacritic gives it a 53 out of 100, labeling the reception as mixed or average. That gap between the two sites suggests the acting lands while the plot stumbles. The film won Outstanding TV Movie or Limited Series at the 2026 Black Reel TV Awards. Tessa Thompson took home the lead performance award in the same category. A 53 is a polite way to say "it works, sort of.
How it did with audiences
There is no box office figure to dissect, so the money talk stops before it starts. The audience verdict rests entirely on the TMDB user score, which sits at 7.3. That is a solid, if unremarkable, mark. It suggests viewers watched it, thought about it, and shrugged with pleasant contentment. No viral moment, no outrage, just a steady nod. The film cleared the bar without breaking it. A quiet satisfaction for a quiet number.
