Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.

Not everyone agreed. Ben Travers of IndieWire gave it a C−, arguing it prioritized setup over a worthy problem.

TMDB users rate Hawkeye 7.8 out of 10. Luminate reported it accounted for 4.9% of total original series viewership on Disney+ from the end of 2021 through the end of 2022. TorrentFreak named it the fifth most-pirated TV series of 2021. People watched it, and they shared it.

Jeremy Renner arrived from the Avengers, a franchise that defined his public image. He left for Wake Up Dead Man, a mystery that leans into grit rather than superheroics. Hailee Steinfeld came from Bumblebee and Ender’s Game, roles that often framed her as the youthful heart of larger machines.
