Caroline Framke of Variety noted the show borrows an ominous, sexy intrigue from Riverdale. Joel Keller of Decider asked if we really need another dark remake of a kids' series. He suggested skipping it. There was dissent. Petrana Radulovic of Polygon found the plot compelling and the worldbuilding exciting. Deirdre Molumby of Entertainment.ie praised the cast but dinged the CGI.

Fate: The Winx Saga found its footing on Netflix. It peaked at #2 on Nielsen’s Streaming Charts the week of 25 January, logging 918 million minutes in viewership. Only Bridgerton, with 936 million minutes, sat ahead of it. On 20 April 2021, Netflix reported that 57 million subscribers watched the first season within the first 28 days of release. TMDB users give it a 7.9 rating.
What came next for the cast
Abigail Cowen stepped away from Sabrina and I Still Believe, later appearing in Redeeming Love and The Ritual. Eliot Salt left Normal People, with Slow Horses and We Live in Time following in the facts. The credits do not establish which came first. They simply list what is on record.
