What kind of watch this is
Doug Ellin’s 2004 series turns the Hollywood machine into a playground where money solves every problem, right up until the next episode. It is a comedy-drama that treats the industry’s superficiality as its main character. The show runs 8 seasons and 96 episodes, totaling roughly 42 hours of screen time. That is a specific amount of time to spend watching men in expensive suits complain about trivialities.
What the critics said
Critics generally enjoyed the ride, though the scenery shifted. Metacritic scores range from 68 for season 1 to 73 for season 3, dropping to 61 by season 7. Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly called season 3 "Almost preposterously enjoyable." The Wall Street Journal noted the writing is "almost always smart, sharp and funny." By season 8, the mood had cooled. It sits at 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. Tucker later remarked the show "really isn't that funny anymore." The finale feels like a merciful end.
How it did with audiences
Entourage never broke the bank. It has no reported box office figures, so the money story is a blank page. Instead, look at the user score. On TMDB, it sits at 7.4 out of 10. That is a solid mark. It is the kind of rating that implies you watched it twice, just to be sure.
