What kind of watch this is
Legends of Tomorrow is a 2016 time-travel series that treats the apocalypse as a scheduling conflict. It runs 77 hours across 7 seasons, a commitment that rewards patience with increasingly absurd stakes. The show leans into its own absurdity, pairing epic threats with the banter of a group chat. It is not subtle, nor does it try to be. It is a loud, chaotic ride for those who prefer their science fiction with a wink.
What the critics said
The pilot arrived with high hopes. Russ Burlingame of ComicBook.com called it "arguably the most attention-grabbing... from any of the current crop of superhero shows." Jesse Schedeen of IGN scored the first part 7.7/10, noting its "epic scope." That optimism cooled quickly. Rotten Tomatoes gave the complete first season a 65% approval rating, while Metacritic landed on 58 out of 100. Critics found the cast overcrowded. The show corrected course. Seasons 2 and 3 both sit at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. The A.V. Club later praised the shift to metafiction, calling it "one of the most impressive turnarounds in genre TV history." A fix, not a miracle.
How it did with audiences
No box office numbers exist for a series, so the verdict rests on the screen. TMDB users rate it 7.2 out of 10. It is the kind of rating that says the show was fine, occasionally good, and rarely surprising.
