Seeing is believing.
Casper is a kind young ghost who peacefully haunts a mansion in Maine. When specialist James Harvey arrives to communicate with Casper and his fellow spirits, he brings along his teenage daughter, Kat. Casper quickly falls in love with Kat, but their budding relationship is complicated not only by his transparent state, but also by his troublemaking apparition uncles and their mischievous antics.

Where it left its mark
The film did more than haunt the box office; it handed director Brad Silberling the keys to a bigger career. That success led directly to his directing the 1998 remake of Wings of Desire, a project known as City of Angels. The ghost also made a surprise return decades later. In the 2024 film Sonic the Hedgehog 3, a brief clip plays on a screen during a movie night. Knuckles the Echidna watches in terror.
