What the critics said
Metacritic places the first season at 72 out of 100, a score that sits comfortably in the generally favorable range. The platform aggregated 23 reviews to reach that number. Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club saw things differently, awarding the season an "F" and describing it as "insufferable". That is a sharp divergence from the aggregate data. The critics who liked it found a show with texture; Rabin found a headache.
What came next for the cast
David Duchovny returned to The X-Files in 2008, a full year after this. Pamela Adlon moved from Grease 2 to Louie. Evan Handler found his way to Sex and the City. The credits do not map a straight line from one role to the next. They just show what followed.
