What kind of watch this is
Behind Her Eyes is a 2021 mystery drama that treats the human mind as a locked room with no key. It runs 5 hours across 6 episodes, a tight window for a story that constantly questions what you just saw. The hook is simple: an affair and a friendship that should be mutually exclusive, yet become inseparable. It leans on psychological unease rather than jump scares, asking if the people you trust are actually there at all. Created by Steve Lightfoot, it plays like a dream you cannot wake up from.
What the critics said
Rotten Tomatoes sits at 62%, with an average score of 5.7 out of 10. Metacritic offers 54 out of 100, a verdict it labels mixed or average. The consensus notes the twists may be unexpected but feel unearned, though the chaos might keep viewers forgiving. Not everyone bought that bargain. The Guardian asked who knew threesomes could be so boring. Radio Times called the journey from bland to bizarre unconvincing. The Irish Times suggested you might wonder why you wasted six hours.
How it did with audiences
Behind Her Eyes has no box office numbers to argue about, so the verdict rests on what viewers say. On TMDB, users rate it 7.4 out of 10. That is a solid score for a thriller that spends a lot of time being ambiguous.
What came next for the cast
Eve Hewson moved from Bridge of Spies to The Perfect Couple. Tom Bateman shifted from Murder on the Orient Express to The Love Hypothesis. Robert Aramayo jumped from The Empty Man to The Rings of Power. The credits show a change in direction. They do not show a cause.
