Leslie Felperin of The Hollywood Reporter called it a "Michelin-triple-starred master class in patisserie skills." Ann Hornaday of The Washington Post found Emma Watson’s singing merely "serviceable enough to get the job done." It is a faithful retelling that might make you hungry for pastry.

It spent $160 million and pulled in $1.3 billion worldwide. That is a strong return, even if the notes suggest the actual production cost was closer to $254 million. On TMDB, users rate it 7 out of 10. It passed the $1 billion mark quickly, becoming the first film of 2017 to do so.

The film took home 6 awards from 3 nominations. That includes the MTV Movie Award for Best Movie and Best Performance, both in 2017.
