What kind of watch this is
Lauren Montgomery directs this 99-minute animated adventure, bringing Eric Nam, Dave Bautista, and Jessica Matten together for a quest that spans the globe. The premise is straightforward: Aang discovers an ancient power and races to secure it before it destroys the fragile peace his people built. It is a high-stakes fantasy that leans heavily on action and world-building. The tone suggests a classic hero’s journey, updated for a modern audience. If you like your fantasy to have some physical weight behind its magic, this is the ticket. It is a full commitment of time and attention.
What the critics said
Rotten Tomatoes reports 90% positive reviews from 48 critics, averaging 7.2 out of 10. Metacritic’s weighted score lands at 68 out of 100, which it labels generally favorable. The consensus calls it a glowing continuation. Wilson Chapman of IndieWire graded it a C+, praising the visuals but noting the aged-up characters lose the original charm. William Bibbiani of TheWrap called it powerful stuff that adds nuance for fans. Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter found it rushed and lurching.
