It cost $150 million and returned $486 million worldwide, a margin that makes the accounting department smile. On TMDB, users rate it 6.7 out of 10. The film opened to $46 million in the US and Canada, matching Columbia’s prediction despite the source novel being less popular than its predecessor. It held the top spot overseas for two weekends, even against a museum heist. For a while, it was the year’s biggest earner, until a giant robot showed up.
