What kind of watch this is
American Masters is a PBS documentary series that profiles the artists who built American culture. It runs 90 minutes per episode and spans 41 seasons, totaling 316 episodes. That is 474 hours of viewing time. The tone is serious, archival, and unapologetic about its length. You do not binge this; you integrate it into your life over decades. It is for people who believe a biography should take as long as the career it describes.
How it did with audiences
American Masters is a documentary miniseries, so the box office column stays empty. There is no ticket price to justify the 7.0 TMDB user score. That number is a vote from people who watched it on a couch, not a line item in a studio ledger.
